a Center for knowledge transfer

The research activities in the Salzburg Center for Smart Materials aim to develop new adaptive, intelligent surfaces and interfaces based on biogenic resources – with a strong focus on Salzburg’s “lead material” wood. Accompanying the material development, the use of these materials will be tested concerning the increasing digitalisation and networking of our environment. Compact and energy-efficient sensors or actuators are not only important in the field of Industry 4.0, but in every interaction, in the digital recording or targeted control of processes. This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
